Quality of Life

Senior Living can offer Quality of Life!

Humans are social creatures; we need people. I know I need quality interactions with people daily to be fulfilled. If Covid-isolation taught us nothing else, we learned that seclusion is unhealthy! The US Surgeon General says, “Loneliness is an Epidemic…harms both individual and societal health…. It is associated with premature death.” (source) While we are raising children, working and physically active social interactions are easy and natural. Aging can make socialization more difficult.

The decision to move into senior living can help alleviate loneliness as well as other common issues like medication mis-management, poor nutrition and lack of exercise. Quality of Life looks different for different people which is why there are many different models of senior living. You will want a senior living professional (like SPC) to help find the right senior community for you or your loved-one.

Quality of Life for introverts in a senior community might look like:

  • a friend to share the dinner table

  • jokes with a favorite caregiver

  • reading books delivered by your library

  • a quiet conversation after an informative lecture

For extroverts Quality of Life in senior living means:

  • being near friends

  • sharing meals

  • walking group

  • discussing current events over coffee

  • engaging in activities like classes or bingo

Senior Placement of Colorado team members help families find their individual Quality of Life balance in senior living communities around Colorado. An SPC Senior Advisor will discuss the long-term financial plan, each person’s personality, and medical care needs.

Both aging adults and caregivers start thinking about what your personal Quality of Life looks like. I encourage talking with family and friends about what makes your life happy and fulfilled, and how you want to engage your community.

Hoping you find your Quality of Life, today and always,

Amy
